Who we are

Carelene de Jager

A Cape Town native, is the co-founder and studio manager of Yoga House, who will run the daily operations.

I have a true passion for teaching and am a strong believer in all the benefits that can come from a physically safe and dedicated Yoga practice. After experiencing first hand, so much of what the practice of Yoga can do for the mind, the body and the soul, all I wanted to do was share this practice with as many people as I can. Once you have found something so seemingly simple, but with such an immense impact on your life, both physically and mentally, you cannot help but share and be apart of someone else’s beautiful journey. Whether that is to move better, move more, touch your toes or to simply feel better in your skin. I finished my 200hr Teacher Training with Jim Harrington of ReUnion Yoga and Meditation in Woodstock, which included branches of Physiology and Anatomy. I then extended my schooling with an extra 100hr Advanced Anatomy Training with Jim. I also did an advanced 150hr online training with Jim’s instructor, Simon Borg. Most recently I did an additional 50hr training in Yoga For Sports, to help sports professionals set and achieve certain goals in their line of sport, using the practice of Yoga. I am currently at 500hrs of certified training and have no intention of stopping any time soon.

Tanja is the founder of YOGA HOUSE, a Swiss native with a passion (and teachers degree) for the yoga lifestyle.

Coming from a fashion & marketing background managing fashion magazines in Switzerland, she finally moved to South Africa in 2018. Discovering the benefits of yoga in Sri Lanka several years ago, she decided to give back her passion for yoga to the community in the Western Cape with the first ever yoga studio in Paarl and at Val de Vie Estate.

Meet our teachers

Kirsty Reid

Kirsty has completed her 200hr teacher-training in October 2015 at The Shala – Cape Town Yoga School and has since then been teaching yoga privately.

Her classes are perfect for anyone starting out their yoga journey where they will learn the foundational poses so that they can safely and effectively transition between each posture. Here she emphasises using our breath to consciously create awareness in our body and to notice the subtle internal connections in each pose. Kirsty continues to attend workshops and trainings and has a passion for Anatomy and Lymphology. She currently lives in Paarl and works for her family business.

Lizet Mulder

Lizet is a green-thumbed yogi that shares a playful practice in beautiful spaces. After 5 years of yoga adventures from Cape Town to the Himalayas, the powerful Ashtanga self-practice, settled her onto the mat in 2013.

In 2014 she relocated to India and Thailand to “practice practice…all is coming”. She completed her 250hr teachers training under the guidance of Asthangi-evolved Pranayama teacher, Paul Dallaghan. After completing the year with assisting on teachers’ immersions, she returned and settled in the foothills of the Hawekwa Mountains. Here she has been planting, practicing and furthering her studies in both Yoga and Sustainable Enterprise. She welcomes the spacious inhale and anchoring exhale. Lizet is also a fun and fearless AcroYogi that settles into stillness with her Vipassana practice. She professes kind self-observation on- and off the mat.
